Antique Rosewood box with lift-out tray and drawer Circa 1840.

Antique Figured Rosewood box with lift-out compartmentalized tray and sprung drawer fitted for jewelry. There are mother of pearl escutcheons to the top and the front. There is a ruched velvet pad in the lid is framed with gold embossed leather behind. It is released by pressing behind the lock catch. The sprung drawer is released by removing a brass pin. The lift-out tray is of mahogany construction with rosewood facings. New pads of velvet have been made to make the tray suitable for jewelry. There is further space beneath. Circa 1840.

Size: 30.5 cm wide by 22.5 cm by 16.5 cm:  12  inches wide by  9 inches by  6.5 inches.
