Antique Writing box veneered in richly figured walnut  with secret drawers  Circa 1840

Figured walnut writing box with brass corners and straps. The box is veneered inside with ebonised wood. The writing surface is covered in the original gold embossed leather. There are the usual compartments for storing stationery and writing implements. There are two secret drawers concealed behind a sprung panel. The box has a hand blown replacement reproduction inkwell. Circa 1840.

Origin: UK;  Circa: 1840; Materials: figured walnut and brass.

Size: 34.8 cm wide by 23.6 cm by 16 cm:  13.7 inches wide by  9.3 inches by  5.4 inches.
