A fine Antique brass edged Coromandel box Circa 1860.

Description:

A box veneered in strongly striated coromandel, with brass edging, central unmarked plate and side handles. It is of exceptionally high quality, which continues into the interior. It is lined in velvet, silk and gold embossed leather. It has two trays and the unusual feature of two concealed small drawers under the back section.    

The box has a working Bramah lock.

Size: 11.75” x 8.7” 6.75" tall. 29.5cm x 22cm 17cm tall. 

Origin: United Kingdom

Circa:1860.

The box bears the label of one of the finest makers of the mid nineteenth century:

“To The Royal Family. Green, Maker,  168 Oxford St ”.  Green was a maker to members of the Royal Family.

Condition: Very feint cracks when carefully examined. Slight internal wear.
