Description:
A Box veneered in well figured walnut and inlaid with mother of pearl and abalone. stained.  Inside is the original tray  which is fitted for sewing.

Origin: UK

Circa: 1880

Materials:

Size: 10.5” x 7.9”, 5.5” tall. 26.7cm x 20cm, 14cm tall.

The inside: There is a tray fitted for sewing. The covers  and the padded back are in blue silk.

Detail of the escutcheon. The mother of pearl contrasts with the darker abalone shell.

 

The tray is covered with a silver colored paper. The inside  of this box shows little sign of use.
