Description: A tortoiseshell snuff box with a pressed concentric design. The facings and hinge are integrated and form a strong frame to the thick shell which is

The center is inlaid with very fine piqué work depicting a bee on flowers.  

Origin: French 

Circa: 1770

Materials: Tortoiseshell with gilded brass hinge and gold decoration.

Size: 2.7"x 2.1". 7.2x 5.3 cm.

Condition: Wear and repair on corners visible when closely examined. Losses (about half) of the fine gold lines of the top design. The engraved lines are still visible. The gilded surface on the catch is worn in the center.
