Description: Exquisitely formed and decorated tortoiseshell snuff box. The shell is pressed and forms diamonds, accented with gold dots. The in-between lines have a fine wavy line on each side. The diamonds are further lined with two different textured patterns which run in opposite directions. When holding the box to the light, the shimmer values juxtapose in a fugitive way. The top is framed in a fine pattern of holy leaves and berries in piqué pose. See Antique Boxes, Tea Caddies, and Society, 1700--1880
