Description: A deeply and finely carved tortoiseshell card case depicting scholars in a garden.
There are pagodas and pavilions amongst the flowers and trees.
A figure in a boat on the bottom of one side suggests a lake or river.
This is consistent with the formal depictions of oriental gardens during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. 
There is a scratched signature? on the flat surface of the inner part.
 Origin: China

Circa: 1850

Materials: Tortoiseshell

Size: 3.3"x2.1". 8.8x5.2 cm.

Condition: Fine
