Description: A thick tortoiseshell snuff box with a gold framed silhouette of the Duke of Wellington in pressed tortoiseshell. Pressed portraits of important people were made in England from the beginning of the eighteenth century. They are rare.

Origin: England

Circa:1800                       

Materials: Tortoiseshell and gold.

Size: 2"x1.1". 5x2.8 cm.

Condition: Small scratch, "wear" scratches when held against light, and two small holes in front indicate missing catch.
