Description: An unusual, charming Vernis Martin snuff box with a central painting under glass. From the way the painting has worn on the edge, it looks as if the painting is reverse painted on the domed glass. A gold pattern of flowers frames the whole top.
The inside is painted and varnished to simulate tortoiseshell.

Origin: France

Circa: 1760

Materials: Vernis Martin, glass..

Size: 3"across. 7.5cm.  

Condition: General wear.
