Description: A tubular tortoiseshell container which tapers almost imperceptibly, about 0.5cm from top to base. This elegant piece is enhanced with very fine piqué work in gold. The design is in the controlled neoclassical tradition, with a touch of naturalistic softness in the bend of the plants. 

Origin: Probably French.

Circa: 1780

Materials: Tortoiseshell and gold.

Size: 5" long. 12.10cm.

Condition: Small chips on edges of shell, damage on shell appr. 0.5cm on lower part under leaf decoration.
