Antique Penwork box Circa 1810

Sycamore box  of rectangular form decorated with penwork, The central scene seems to depict a seated man, perhaps a traveling peddler with a woman playing a flat-back  mandolin /cittern.  The central scene is framed by stylized exotic flowers.  The sides are decorated with a repeating pattern of  birds and trailing plants.  Inside the box is empty and lined with typical pink paper.  New velvet pads  to the inside of the lid and bottom of the box protect the original paper and makes the box suitable for holding jewelry or keepsakes.

Origin: UK ;  Circa:1810 ; Materials: .

Size: 30 cm wide by 27.7 cm by 7.5 cm:   11.8 inches wide by  11  inches by  3 inches.

Condition: good overall; some losses to  original varnish; working lock and key; see images.
