Antique Face Screen with painted flowers  C.  1815.

 The flowers, rose, daffodils and cyclamen are boldly painted to cover most of the screen. Although somewhat faded we can still see the veining on the leaves and the expertly shaded blooms.

The handle is turned and carved in an ambitious pattern, culminating in a gilded lyre; a touch of neoclassicism to balance the exuberance of the flora.

Origin: UK ;  Circa:1815  ; Materials: paper and wood

Size:  Screen 23.2 cm wide by 19.4 cm; handle 22.5 cm long: 9.1 inches wide by 7.5 inches; handle 8.8  inches.

The handle ends in a lyre shape and is gilded. An embossed gilded souround.
